In short supply - we were told that there were limited numbers of steaks left. Food was nice but lacked the hit of flavour it used to have. There was only half a loo roll left between both cubicles in the ladies.
Visited for an early meal, about 5pm on a cold, wet, miserable Saturday. A few folk in already eating. Friendly staff, nice food and it got progressively busier by the time we left just before 7. We ate a delicious cheese topped fish pie, followed by sticky toffee pudding (me)and chefs brownie (my friend). Washed down with a very nice wine. Prompt service too.
Table for 21 booked in advance meal choices given in advance, all arrived promptly no table service had to cue at bar for drinks, wine glasses had to be requested and cleaned. Starters came out at 9 oclock table booked 745 , table not cleared full empty glasses, restaurant full one behind bar not enough staff . Main came out warm 9.50 mash lumpy, pork belly burger large slab fatty cold pork , peppercorn sauce watery and spoonfuls of peppercorns, have eaten here before had good food this was poor service bad food should have been prepared as booked in advance . Disappointed was celebration.
A great place to eat and drink in Sandwich. 2 visits and both times excellent meals delivered. Can recommend either the platter or a very filling all day breakfast. Ice cream is a must to finish with.
Came here at lunchtime on a Sunday and was generally impressed but there were a couple of missed notes.Everyone at the table had something different and we all agreed it was very tasty. Having said that I have a personal dislike for food that's difficult to eat and a steak layered in a Huffkin is definitely in that camp. On top of that the children's chips really shouldn't have a generous sprinkling of salt.The decor and atmosphere was fab (if a little loud) and it's certainly more accurate to call the place a restaurant/dining room than restaurant/pub. Although the broken lock in a toilet cubicle was a disappointment.
